Recuperámos na Biblioteca da Câmara Municipal de Castelo Branco um livro, edição de autor de 1958, intitulado Castelo Branco - Na História e na Arte, de Manuel Tavares dos Santos.
Assim, a todos os que se entusiasmam com pequenas viagens ao passado, aconselhamos a leitura do excerto do livro relativo ao Cine-Teatro Avenida:

"Cine-Teatro Avenida - ocupa um gaveto do Campo da Pátria e da nova Avenida do Marechal Carmona, num terreno com a superfície de 2.050 metros quadrados.
Projetado pelos arquitetos Raul César Caldeira e Albertino Crujeiro Galvăo Roxo, o edifício tem uma área coberta de 1. 147 metros quadrados. O terreno sobrante, com a superfície de 903 metros quadrados, constitui uma esplanada para espetáculos ao ar livre.

O edifício, concebido no estilo moderno, é um exemplar característico da evolução da Arquitetura, operada no século XX, com o emprego de novos materiais de construção.

Além do salão principal, balcão e camarins possui, nos seus três pisos, outros salões, botequins e todas as dependências inerentes a uma moderna casa de espetáculos.

The Construction began in April 1950 and was completed in September 1954.

The inauguration was done on 2nd October 1954 at 10pm with the representation of the parts Nobel Prize and The Cardinals Supper, exquisitely performed by the National Theatre Company D. Maria II, Lisbon, which took part the famous actors Amelia Rei Colaço, Robles Monteiro and the appreciated actor, natural Municipality of Castelo Branco, Raul Robles Monteiro de Carvalho. Following the show there was a lively dance brightened Orchestra Copacabana.

After the plays of Lady Windermere's Fan and That Woman, by the same company, on nights 2nd and 3rd October, took place the first cinematographer's displays on 4th October with the film Enrico Caruso at 4:00 pm and, later that day, with the film Salome at 8:30 pm.

This is the picture of the early days of the movie theatre "Cine-Teatro Avenida".

Forty-six years later, after a devastating fire and a recovery process, the movie theatre "Cine-Teatro Avenida" reborn. Different and modern but retaining some elements of the former movie theatre "Cine-Teatro Avenida".

The room now has a capacity of 700 people, 408 seats in the audience, 264 in the first balcony and seven cabins with a capacity of 31 seats.

The sencond balcony was also suppressed, enabling to design a multipurpose area, now occupied by Senior University.

At the floor level, -1, under the audience, was created, yet, a multipurpose large lounge, but that lends itself to various exhibitions. In this same floor, was recovered an old noria, which existed before 1954, inauguration's date of the Cine-Teatro Avenida. The noria, in the center of this multipurpose room can be understood as an element unusual, but contributes largely to create a charismatic atmosphere.
